Each partner supports and represents different parts of our community. Collectively we bring a wealth of knowledge and resources that we use to coordinate our projects and help our town to thrive.
Larkhall Community Council
Larkhall has an active and engaged Community Council.
Chairperson, Tommy McPhee, was at the heart of the leisure centre campaign.
Monthly meetings are open to all and take place in Larkhall Academy.
Larkhall Academy
Larkhall’s high school is a place for our young people to flourish and fulfil their aspirations. Headteacher, Andy Smith, ensures the school has strong community ties and its pupils engage with local groups and activities as they grow to be the town’s future leaders and caretakers.
South Lanarkshire Health and Social Care Forum
The Forum aims to ensure the perspectives and lived experience of patients and carers in South Lanarkshire is represented and listened to by healthcare staff and decision makers.
Margaret Moncrieff is a Larkhall resident and Chair of the Forum. Margaret has done invaluable work for Larkhall and the wider area. For example, she changed policy so vaccination could be delivered for older people in Larkhall instead of Hamilton. She also represents patients for the construction of the new Monklands Hospital. She influences all aspects of the development and content of the new hospital ensuring the voices of patients are at the heart of the new construction.
Community Links
Community Links empowers individuals and communities in South Lanarkshire to become active in their local area with initiatives such as participatory budgeting and managing community resources.
Strutherhill and Birkenshaw in Larkhall are one of South Lanarkshire’s neighbourhood plans and residents are encouraged to share their views and make decisions about what their community needs and where money should be spent.
Larkhall Lighthouse
Larkhall Lighthouse is managed by Larkhall Christians Together and is a community space in the centre of the town. The organisation maintains the town’s public toilets and offers a low-cost, vibrant space for groups to meet.
The Lighthouse is the HQ for the Partnership and where we hold regular meetings.
Larkhall YMCA SCIO
Since the Association was established in the town, many initiatives and programmes have been run under its auspices. However, Larkhall YMCA Harriers has proved to be the most enduring and successful group in attracting succeeding generations of young people to the YMCA movement. Over the years the club has competed with great success at local, regional, Scottish, British and
international level. The hall is also the base for the Audrey
Marshall School of Dance, which although not affiliated to our Association, has also had a long and successful presence in the town.
Larkhall Community Growers
Larkhall Community Growers is committed to growing Larkhall, both the town and its residents.
The social enterprise started by transforming a piece of waste ground in Hareleeshill into a flourishing community garden.
Larkhall and District Volunteer Group
Since 1994, Larkhall and District Volunteer Group works to reduce physical and social isolation by providing a range of inclusive and accessible services and activities. This includes lunch clubs, crafts groups, IT classes and more. Their community transport fleet help people get to groups, go to the shops and attend healthcare appointments
Meet the Partners - Universal Connections
Universal Connections run activities and groups for young people in South Lanarkshire. Their Larkhall base is in the heart of the town on Union Street.
Their role in the Partnership is vital to bring the perspectives of young people and help ensure their voices are heard when we are planning projects.
