Banking Services in Larkhall

by | Jan 20, 2026

The last bank branch in Larkhall, Bank of Scotland, closed on the 8th of January 2026.

This was after a huge campaign, bringing together Larkhall Plan Partnership and local politicians, including: an online petition, public meetings, a peaceful demonstration outside the bank which made national news.

Bank of Scotland’s decision to close down the Larkhall service is a difficult pill to swallow. It’s disappointing that their own figures of 41,000 customers, 1400 businesses and the proposed new housing in the area, wasn’t enough to change their mind.

While the bank has now gone, the fight isn’t over as discussions are being had with the future in mind about what banking services in the town could look like.

We still need to keep pressure on Bank of Scotland. We are asking residents to email their complaints team directly using our template email: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RPVXFUlvcpKFlijHT23eS2WtZtUc7FN6nXANey5SO38/edit?usp=drive_link
